Doug Andrews named president and CEO of Kemper

LONG GROVE, ILL. – Doug Andrews has been named president and CEO of Kemper, concluding a search that began late last summer.

Andrews has been Kemper’s chief operating officer since April of 2004. He began working with the company in the fall of 2003 as executive vice president of Kenning Financial Advisors, LLC, the firm that was retained to assist Kemper in developing its run-off plan.

Andrews has extensive experience in the run off of property casualty insurance business. His background includes serving as executive vice president at TIG Insurance, working as a senior claim consultant at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin and holding multiple positions in marketing, underwriting and claims for Aetna Casualty and Surety. He supervised the quantification of Kuwaiti war reparations claims representing Adjusters International and KPMG Peat Marwick.

Kemper board member Zack Stamp, who was appointed as interim chief executive officer while the search for a permanent CEO was conducted, will continue to serve as a director of the company.
